District nursery “Elmer in de stad”

Transformation of a building in the rue Terre Neuve in the municipality of Brussels, and creation of a new district nursery, ELMER, with the objective of integrating or reintegrating a weakened public.

The concept of “Elmer in de stad” is a day-care center for children from 3 months to 3 years old.

Elmer is flexible in providing child care. Elmer provides occasional, short-term, irregular, part-time, full-time or emergency day care, depending on the reason for the day care.

The non-profit organization tries to follow the parents throughout their journey (training followed, return to work) and continue to welcome their children.

This is the fourth location of the non-profit association Elmer, which already manages three sites in Schaerbeek, Molenbeek-Saint-Jean and Anderlecht.

The non-profit association Elmer has hired 12 people, including 4 people from the priority area, for this new project. From this team, 3 people follow a qualifying training course. On average, the nursery welcomes 40 children per week.

Elmer is a neighbourhood service for childcare. Elmer is part of the social network in our area.
