Programming projects FEDER 2014 – 2020
ECO-CHILLER
The project of the Brussels University Hospital is an ambitious energy project that is part of the extension of the University Hospital by approximately 50,000 m² by 2022. An objective of this major expansion project is to have an energy consumption equal to the energy consumption in 2012 by 2022 despite enlargement.
Various reusable energy sources will be used for this, including the recovery of “heat”. Specifically, this energy project will focus on the following: during the conversion of liquid oxygen (-185 ° C) to gas, cold is currently lost in the heat exchanger. On the other hand, there are existing installations that need energy to create cold (air conditioning). A large amount of ice forms during the conversion of liquid oxygen into gas that could be recovered and used. To achieve this, a relocation of the oxygen tanks and other infrastructure closer to the circuits that produce cold is necessary.
