Programming projects FEDER 2014 – 2020

L[ag]UM

The aim of the project is to create a vegetable garden on the roof of a future Colruyt store, which will enable research activities in the sustainable food sector. It is a question of creating an educational and experimental space for vegetable production in collaboration between the Municipality of Ixelles and the ULB.

L(ag) UM thus expands the project of the Maelbeek Neighborhood Contract (which consists of the development of a green pole) with a market gardening area of approximately 1,500m², used for research-action purposes and offering citizens a place of discovery and inspiration for urban agriculture.

This place will offer a showcase of the different cultures above ground that are possible and reproducible by the citizens. By offering an application space for above-ground agriculture, this initiative is complementary to existing training in open ground. Collaborations are envisaged with short courses outside the ERDF, and with networks and initiatives of non-profit organizations involved in sustainable food.

The project benefits from a depollution subsidy to cover studies, soil analyzes and remediation work.
