The Canal, is on the move – A day of exploring, creating and celebrating

Programme:

Saturday, June 28, 2025 – from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Porte de Ninove – Quai de l’Industrie (across from the Écluse de Molenbeek-Saint-Jean)

Free festive event open to all!

🎨  11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – “Necessary Dream” workshop (Zinneke)

Give life to your imagination with artist Paul Marique. Create your own Zinneke silhouette and imagine yourself participating in a colourful and inclusive parade with the help of AI.

👕 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. – ‘Personalised clothing’ workshop with MAD Brussels

Learn how to personalise clothes with embroidered patches designed by designer Aurélie Defez. Clothes are available on site, but you may also bring your own garment to transform!

🎨 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Collective artwork

Express your vision of the Canal by participating in a giant mural illustrated by artist Élise Léonard. Following the “painting by number” principle, everyone can contribute to this collective artwork that tells the story of the neighbourhood, as it is seen through the eyes of its residents.

🖼️ 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Interactive exhibition ‘Europe in my region

Discover the European initiatives that are helping to transform the Canal district through a playful and participatory exhibition. A unique way to discover the neighbourhood, transformations while having fun!

🍽️ 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Food & chill zone

In a cozy setup, sample local specialties inspired by the culinary diversity around the Canal. Relax with music and make it a cozy afternoon with friends or family.

🚶‍♀️12 to 4 p.m. – Guided walks with COOP and back by Waterbus

Step back in time and discover the industrial past and renewal of the districts along the Canal with COOP’s guides. An enriching 1.5-hour walk finishing with a Waterbus trip back to Porte de Ninove.
